MuV Medical Cannabis Dispensaries
affiliation: Patrick M. Pillot Architect | Altmed, a medical cannabis research and production company, engaged us to design the retail experience for its MuV dispensaries. Starting with a prototype dispensary in Sarasota, we continue to design locations around the state of Florida. The design speaks to the medical research side of the business, differentiating MuV from more lifestyle oriented dispensaries. A clean palette of materials and fixtures clearly displays product information, while the arrangement of point of sale and express checkouts allows for efficient customer service. Each location adapts the prototype to a different setting, from a freestanding former Taco Bell in Longwood to a medical complex in Wellington, and inline retail spaces in other locations. -
Mitchum Jewelers
Randy Mitchum sought to expand his freestanding store in 2017 after outgrowing the existing space. The project first focused on the addition, but quickly expanded to include a comprehensive redesign of the existing retail space and back of house reorganization. The resulting design seamlessly blends the old and new for a unified customer experience. The additional area allows for more defined brand zones, lounge areas, and consult spaces. For the showcase designs we built off of the architecture and Ozark feel with a combination of nature and white wood finishes, simple forms, and spots of greenery. We also wove the multigenerational Mitchum storyline into the store. In the lounge area a restored clock from the family's first store adorns one wall, while a mural with Randy's father serves as backdrop to the new concierge area. | Project in conjunction with Torgerson Design Group of Ozark. -
Uniquely Bahamian
Uniquely Bahamian is a boutique featured Bahamian made jewelry, apparel, and artwork. Located in the Baha Mar resort, this new outlet for the Dean Family's brand needed to match the caliber of other high end retailers on site. Carter's Jewel Chest
Carter's Jewel Chest is a second generation family jeweler in Mountain Home, Arkansas. This project expanded an existing inline retail store, transforming Carter's into the region's premier retail destination. The space is part family jewelry store, part event space for the clients' numerous non profit affiliations, and part community living room. We blended several brand zones, including Hearts on Fire and John Hardy, into a cohesive design palette to effectively balance the brand identities with Carter's own established brand. -
La Estrella Aruba
La Estrella is a pawn and jewelry business serving a broad cross section of the Aruban population. The owners sought a more upscale environment to make pawn customers feel as welcome and valued as customers of the tourist oriented jewelry shops nearby. Tenant improvements involved extensive facade work and a completely new interior. Conceived as a "third place" in the vein of Starbucks, the interior has a modern yet warm palette of materials with a generous lounge area and multiple consult spaces. Those making regular loan payments can now look forward to visiting La Estrella as a business that rewards them with a unique experience. The new location even lets La Estrella compete in the tourist market with a store that rivals the major brands near the cruise terminal mixed with the thrill of the hunt for pawned jewelry. -
Bere' Jewelers
affiliation: Patrick M. Pillot Architect | Bere's Jewelers expanded from two leased locations to a single freestanding 7,200 SF building. The existing building served as a furniture store and required little changes to the building envelope. The client presented two challenges. First, the store had to cohesively include several brand zones without looking like a department store. Second, the store had to relate to the Pensacola community, serving as a social gathering spot. We addressed the first challenge primarily through material selection, finding a range of materials that speak to the different product zones but relate to each other for a seamless experience. For some brands - Pandora, Forevermark and Tag Heuer - we integrated brand specific casework. For other brands - Breitling and John Hardy - we adapted the new Bere'-specific case design to the brands. For the second challenge we considered the influence of the Pensacola Naval Air Station on the community and the gregarious social nature of the clients, Barry and Laura Cole. Materials and artwork, including a custom riveted aluminum wall made to look like an airplane hull, reference the aviation and military heritage. A full bar with beer taps and a long multifunction community table welcome customers to dwell and socialize in the store. -

Bell Tower Cafe
role: project designer | Black Hawk Café is an existing coffee house located at the Bell Tower Shops in Fort Myers, Florida. Branding relates to the local region with the use of large scale black and white Florida Everglades photography. The upscale environment delivers a level of sophistication that exceeds customer expectations for independent coffee shops, while avoiding generic coffee house themes of national chains. This flexibility allows the café to accommodate different types of needs throughout the day, from morning coffee to evening wines accompanied by acoustic performances. -

The materials palette and furniture, selected with the Van Dresser Company, combine regional flavor with an upscale hospitality feel.
